Congratulations to this year’s Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. I was personally rooting for you–not that that had anything to do with your victory… It was also very cool to see a woman, Caroline Pisano, announce the winner’s name. Fifty years ago the award went to Ernie Davis of Syracuse University. It may shock some people to know that I think The Express is the best film ever made about football. Davis died at the age of 23 after battling leukemia. So, on this Heisman Night, I’m thinking of the Elmira Express.
